The Houston handyman market is crowded ||| Hundreds of trucks, dozens of apps, plenty of fly-by-night operators. Picking the wrong one wastes money and creates new problems. Here is the checklist we tell our own friends to use. ||| Licensed and insured ||| Ask to see proof of both. General liability ($1M minimum) and workers comp. If they hesitate or say they will email it, walk away. Real handymen have it ready on their phone. ||| Real local phone number ||| Out-of-state area codes and call centers are red flags. The big lead-aggregator apps sub-contract to whoever is closest, which is rarely the best person. A real local number means a real local handyman who actually shows up. ||| Real photos of finished work ||| Not stock photos. Not before-only shots. Ask for 5 recent jobs in your area. If the photos are all from 3 different states, you are not getting a local guy. ||| Clear pricing structure ||| Flat fee per job or hourly with a quoted ceiling. Not we will figure it out when we get there. ||| Written warranty ||| 30-day workmanship minimum on any handyman work. Anything less is a red flag. Materials warranty per manufacturer. ||| Reviews with specifics ||| Great job means nothing. Look for fixed the leak in 20 minutes type detail. 4.5 stars with 50 reviews beats 5 stars with 8 reviews every time. ||| Same-week response ||| If they cannot tell you when they will be there, they will not show up. ||| Limits ||| Good handymen tell you when a job is past their scope. The bad ones say yes to everything and then sub it out without telling you. ||| Why EZ Innovation passes the checklist ||| Licensed, $1M insured, real Houston number (786) 613-0786, photos of every job, 30-day workmanship warranty, same-week response across all 14 service areas. Call us and you get a handyman, not a call center.
